• North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG) Initiatives

  
  In 2010, the Institute of Medicine issued a report on the clinical trials group system, recommending a consolidation of research operations to improve efficiency. In June 2010, NCCTG began to collaborate with the Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB) and American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG) to integrate statistics and data management functions for all three groups. In November 2010, NCI introduced initiatives to restructure the National Cancer Clinical Trials System. In response, NCCTG, CALGB and ACOSOG began collaborating on a complete integration of the three groups, incorporating all scientific, operations, governance, membership and biospecimen banking functions, in addition to statistics and data management, to form a new cooperative group. This section will provide updated information on these collaborative efforts.
